2009 Clackamas River Festival

Earlier this month, Todd and I made it out to the Clackamas River Festival near Portland, Oregon for some fun and games. It was a two day festival put on by Next Adventure, packed full of both rafting and kayaking events.

The coolest event of the weekend was the big air ramp where people hucked themselves off a huge ramp, flailing arms and all.

Andy Maser pulled off an airscrew while cracking a beer while going down the ramp, and Willi almost did a front-flip.

At the end of the day, first place went to Todd Baker with a double-air screw. YEA! Bloody knuckles and all!

Full Immersion Photo Collage

I took some photos of a Bend Alder Creek Kayak and Canoe Full Immersion class and put them together in a collage. This class is designed as an introduction to whitewater kayaking; starting off with basic rolling practice and progressing into entry level class two or three rapids. Meadow Camp Headcam 2126 CFS

Got out kayaking today with some bright sunny weather and 75% temp. It is time for summer and I could not be happier! As most people know Bend, OR is awesome for summers due to nothing but sunshine and good kayaking soooo close. Here is our local class 4+ run known as Meadow Camp at 2126 CFS on the headcam. Enjoy!

Riverhouse Rendevous Race 2009

Riverhouse Rendevous Race (AKA West Cost Junior Olympics Qualifier for Slalom) Went to the race yesterday to take some shots of the dedicated racers. It wasn't over 30 degrees and the winds were kickin' up at about 25 miles per hour! BRR! We had icicles dangling from the gates which were looking like whirlwinds of death. scary. Needless to say, we had a great turn out! 25 racers!

The course had roughly 6 upstream gates and 12 downstream.  I have to say, this course looked tough.  Some difficult gates in there for sure.  Props to everyone for braving the cold and racing!
